Ralph A. McIntosh '68

Ralph McIntosh knows what a great and nurturing high school education can do for a person. He has never forgotten all that he learned at Immaculate High School. His commitment to be of service to the school that impacted him so positively brought him back to Immaculate to serve on Immaculate’s Advisory Board and assist with the financial viability and facility needs of the school.  For these reasons he is being honored with the Nancy K. Dolan Leadership Award.

Ralph graduated Immaculate in 1968 and immediately began the journey to his successful career as President of Del-Tron Precision Inc. in Bethel, CT, which produces linear slides used in medical analyzing and testing machines, semiconductor and electronic chip processing equipment, printers, lasers and more.  He took the business begun by his father and expanded it into a global company while maintaining loyalty to his employees -- more than half have been with the company for over 25 years.

“Immaculate provided me with the structure, discipline and the Christian foundation I needed as a young man -- Immaculate nurtures the whole student and provides a lot of guidance and attention to you as an individual, something I found to be very important,” Ralph said. It was this foundation that allowed him to be a successful and loyal businessman as well as the community servant and philanthropist he is today. “My business ethics, leadership skills and service to my community were cultivated at Immaculate High School,” he noted.

Wanting to support the school that he believed helped make him the man he is today, Ralph returned to serve on the Immaculate Advisory Board from 2002-2014 and was the Facilities Committee Chairman, working with Nancy K. Dolan, a leader he respected and admired for her compassion. During the recession of 2008, Ralph took on the up-hill battle of helping to raise funds and oversaw the badly needed major renovations and repairs to the building. Ralph worked on improving the school with Nancy, Ted LaBonne, Gerri Robilotti and President Kathleen Casey. Ralph also served on the IHS Alumni Board, helping to ensure that former students were an active and revered part of the Immaculate Family.

The list of Ralph’s community service reflects his caring; some of the other organizations he has helped include the United Way, where he served as a council member and on its Resource Development Committee for over a decade; he has also served as a board member for the Danbury Hospital Development Fund and for the Danbury War Memorial. Ralph was a major supporter of the Hanahoe Memorial Children’s Clinic and the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the Greater Danbury Good Scout Award, and earned the Old Timers Athletic Association Award for his support of area sports. An avid runner and golfer, Ralph has also co-chaired area golf tournaments to raise funds for cancer research and was chairman of the Greater Danbury Half Marathon/5K and Union Savings Bank Kids Race to benefit athletics interactions for veterans across the country. Additionally, Ralph is on the board of the Savings Bank of Danbury and member of its Executive, Loan and Audit Committee. He is also a past board member and Chairman of the Board of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce and current member of the Chamber’s Cecil J. Previdi Award Committee.
