Mass of Remembrance

On November 1 (All Saints Day), the Immaculate school community came together in a special Mass of Remembrance to remember and pray for those members of the Immaculate family who have gone home to the Lord. The names of our loved ones were placed in the Chapel and special remembrances were made during the liturgy on November 1, as well as at daily Eucharistic adoration during the month of November. Thank you to Father Chris Ford from St. Gregory the Great Church in Danbury for celebrating this special Mass.

Please visit www.immaculatehs.org/inmemoriam to view a list of deceased alumni. Contact Denise Suarez, Director of Alumni Relations, at dsuarez@myimmaculatehs.org to share information updates for this listing so that we may keep those who have gone before us in prayer.

Veterans Prayer Service and Hill of Honor at Immaculate

Students and faculty came together for a Veterans Prayer Service and Tribute to honor all of our veterans who gave so much to protect our freedoms and safety. Deacon Jeff Font read Psalm 127 and other writings from the Bible. The IHS band and choir performed patriotic songs such as “Three Cheers for the Red White and Blue” and the “Star Spangled Banner.”  Mary Maloney, President, and Wendy Neil, Interim Principal, read aloud the names of Immaculate family veterans.

Alumnus Tom Saadi ‘88, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, in his address to students and faculty, noted that every cent of the $1,440 donation from the IHS Hill of Honor flags to his department will go to programs that “serve those who served,” including housing, health and addiction services. After he spoke, Student Ambassadors proceeded to the Hill of Honor to respectfully place the American flags representing veterans from the Immaculate community.

Sedenskys Receive St. Augustine Medals

Stephen and Nancy Sedensky were recently honored with the Saint Augustine Medal for their commitment to Catholic education. Bishop Frank J. Caggiano presented the medals to them and others recipients from parishes and ministries across the diocese who were recognized for their volunteer service to parishes, schools and charities throughout Fairfield County.  The Sedenskys were honored for their ongoing dedication and support of our school, students and staff, for which Immaculate is very grateful! Mr. Sedensky coaches the IHS Mock Trial team, and they are the parents of Audrey Sedensky ‘18 and Stephen Sedensky ‘20.

Alumnus Speaks at Junior Retreat

The junior class attended a special retreat on November 13 at St. Mary Parish Hall in Bethel. Alumna Ysabelle Esteban ‘15 was the guest presenter. She spoke to the students about her journey through college and how to become more open to the Lord.
