IHS Students March For Life

On January 23, 29 Immaculate students and their chaperones left for Washington, DC to be part of the March for Life. By marching the next day, the students peacefully protested the practice and legality of abortion on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a landmark decision issued on January 22, 1973 by the United States Supreme Court decriminalizing abortion. The day began with a rally at the National Mall, followed by a march which travels down Constitution Avenue and First Street NE, ending on the steps of the Supreme Court of the United States where another rally is held. The mission of the March for Life is to "end abortion by uniting, educating and mobilizing pro-life people in the public square." Thank you to our chaperones Fr. Karol Ksiazek, LuAnne Crowley, Gerry Hatcher, Chris Kirkman, Janice Lenz and Martin Tuite ‘84.

A Thank You From Hopeline Pregnancy Resource Center

Each Christmas, the International Club sets up a Giving Tree and asks for donations for Hopeline Pregnancy Resource Center, which distributes baby clothes and supplies to new mothers and their newborns. Hopeline happily received all the donations and wants the Immaculate family to know this:

“Thank you for your very generous donation of baby clothes, baby items and diapers to Hopeline. Your Giving Tree gifts will help many of our families with their new babies. It is because of donors like you that many of our clients Choose Life. It gives them support and encourages them.”

Ronald McDonald House Service Project

Community Service is a very important part of Immaculate life. For a new service project, the Community Outreach Club, led by Mr. Joseph DeMaida, IHS Dean of Student Affairs, and student members Hunter Kirkman ‘20, Nick Iannetta ‘21, Katerina Crowe ‘22, Elise Quartaro ‘22 and Chris Suarez ‘22 prepared and served lunch to the residents and their families at the Ronald McDonald House in New Haven on January 25.

There are many more service projects at Immaculate; on February 6, Mr. DeMaida leaves with another group of students from the Community Outreach Club and chaperones Mary Maloney (IHS President) and Victoria Vas to Camden, NJ for the Urban Challenge with the Romero Center Ministries, where they will assist people and learn about the benefits and challenges of urban communities and the various issues confronting those living within those communities.
