IHS-Dorothy Day Cereal Drive Breaks Collection Record!

Thanks to the generosity of students and their families, the Immaculate Key Club and Campus Ministry collected 1,633 boxes of cereal and oatmeal for the annual Thanksgiving “Breakfast Food” Drive for the Dorothy Day Hospitality House in Danbury. The donation was a school record! We are the only school or organization that collects breakfast items for Dorothy Day, and what we offer has to last the shelter a whole year. Thank you for your generous support and guaranteeing that the homeless will have breakfast all year.

Our Choirs, Concert Band, Guitar Ensemble and Clef Hangers a capella group all performed seasonal, traditional and spiritual songs and music. They were joined by the St. Joseph (Danbury) Elementary School Junior Choir which provided a special musical treat to all who attended. The foyer and stage were beautifully and seasonally decorated with large paper ornaments designed and produced by our art students. Thank you to Jen Doherty, Choral Director, Niall Reynolds, Band Director, and the entire Fine Arts Department for organizing this beautiful concert, and to Santa (Keelan Doherty ‘20) and all of his helpers who made the event possible.

Key Club Holiday Book Donation Is a Big Success

Once again IHS Key Club held its annual Christmas Casual Day to raise funds for the United Way of Western Connecticut's Ready, Set, Let’s Read! program. This program supports preschools serving disadvantaged children by preparing them for kindergarten; one way is by having volunteer readers in the classrooms to assist teachers in fostering a love of reading with these preschool children. The proceeds from the Christmas Casual Day allowed Immaculate High School to donate 638 books to the preschool children in Head Start Northern Fairfield County, YMCA’s Children’s Center Bethel, Interfaith Early Learning Center and Danbury Public School’s Cottage Street School Readiness Program.
