Learning about Earth's Superior Soil-Building Material!

Students in the Environmental Studies classes at IHS who daily monitor the temperature of their compost pile "turned" it, when ready, in order to increase the oxygen contents of its interior.

They are learning the action of thermophilic organisms and their role in breaking down the organic matter in the pile, which gradually turns it into finished compost--earth's superior soil-building material!

Christmas Concert

Directed by Jennifer Doherty, Choral Instructor, and Anthony Pelligrini, Band Instructor,  Immaculate High School welcomed the local community to a Sounds of Christmas Concert in the Bobby Plumb Gymnasium on December 12.

In addition to traditional hymns sung by the Inspire Choir and played by the IHS band, soloists, including Lily Zuccala, Arianna Petta, Keevin Coonan, Grace McLauughllin and Arianna Pettta, gifted the audience with songs of joy and cheer.  Joining the band and Inspire Choir, the Junior choir, students from the local elementary parochial schools, joined in singing some traditional holiday songs, including Silent Night.  And, to the surprise of many, Santa Claus found his way to the stage and brought kazoos as his gifts to the chorus.

The evening ended with guests enjoying hot cider, Christmas treats and lighting of the Christmas tree.
