Fall Team Updates

Fall sports are off and running at Immaculate High School and our teams have come out of the gates strong! This Fall we have three programs looking to defend their State Championships as other teams are preparing for their postseason run in November. Good luck to all of our student-athletes as they compete, and we hope everyone comes out to cheer them on!  Go to www.immaculatehs.org/athletics for a game/meet schedule.

Boys Soccer has a strong start at 3-1-1 with two league wins under their belt. The Mustangs offensive attack is lead by Tristan DiNatale ‘20 and Nick Lenz ‘21, as five of the six goals of the season so far have come from one of those two players. Billy Murphy ‘22 also had a clutch performance against Masuk, when his 55-yard goal was enough to get a 1-0 league win. The defense is lead by Andrew Talarico ‘21 and Nick Iannetta ‘21 who in four of their last five games have not allowed a single goal. The Mustangs have good momentum going into October and don’t plan on slowing down.

Football (co-op with Abbott Tech) sits 1-0 after their season-opening road win against Quinebaug Valley. CJ Cianflone ‘20 threw four touchdowns, one to running back Tommy Fahey ‘21. Tommy also had a rushing touchdown, helping the ATI United team put up 34 points on the night. Defensively, ATI had four interceptions separated between Kevin Curry ‘20 (who had two), Tommy Fahey and Gerardo Giron ’22. Come support ATI as they play their homecoming game at Western Connecticut State University on October 4. Kickoff will be at 7:45pm, and we hope to see you there!

IHS Athletic Trainer Provides Many Services

This school year Immaculate High School’s Head Athletic Trainer Kayla MacInnis, MS, LAT, ATC, EMT, will be on campus beginning at noon each day to meet with student-athletes who need her help. She will be available during the last two periods of the day for student-athletes who need treatment, rehab or to have an injury looked at by her. Ms. MacInnis will also continue to be at home games to evaluate and treat injuries, tape players beforehand, evaluate for concussions and remove athletes from play if necessary. She also plans to revive the Mustang Round Table for team captains; the round table allows captains to voice concerns and opinions and ask for the information that they need from the Athletic Department.  Ms. MacInnis will also work with the student-athletes regarding leadership and team building. If you have any questions, contact Ms. MacInnis at trainer@myimmaculatehs.org.
