Mustang Monthly

Counseling News:

In the month of May our students and staff honored Mental Health Awareness month through various activities organized through the Counseling Department and the Mental Health and Wellness Club.

IHS hosted weekly visits from various health and wellness organizations like the Center for Empowerment and Education, the Wellmore Behavioral Health and their Emergency Mobile Crisis Unit and Alyson Halas and her local psychotherapy practice. We even enjoyed a visit from Leah, a comfort dog, and local celebrity of sorts!

Students also enjoyed tasty treats on Fridays throughout the month, daily inspirational quotes, morning meditation and even had a Mental Health and wellness ‘chill corner’ set up in the cafeteria complete with lounge chairs, games and puzzles!

More Workshops and Essay Help!

College Admissions Workshops continued this week highlighting what our juniors should be doing going into the summer and what they need to focus on at the very start of their senior year.

Junior Class are working diligently on their college essays this spring to get ahead of the college application process. We are taking this one step further by inviting college admission counselors to come in and meet with our Juniors to review and offer feedback on their essay. Each Junior will be scheduled for a one-on-one appointment now through June 7. We will continue the program in the fall for students who were not scheduled in June.
