CAREER DAY 2021

The IHS Career Day provided a wonderful opportunity for students as they learned about various careers and all that it takes to be successful in those fields.  We were fortunate to have alumni from many different cities and states join us virtually this year.  Eighteen speakers joined our students via a Zoom platform projected onto large screens in the front of their classrooms and shared their expertise, career advice and anecdotes for success.

Career Day is presented by the Immaculate High School Alumni Association, with alumni, parents and community partners taking the time to share their insights with our students. Careers represented this year included marketing/sales, psychotherapy, finance, school counseling, art business, mechanical engineering, armed services, cybersecurity, health administration, clerical vocations, medicine, chiropractic care, banking and others.

Career Day is designed to give students an understanding of the education and preparation requirements to enter each profession. It also provides students an opportunity to consider all aspects of the profession, see how each speaker prepared for that field and see what a typical day is like for each professional.  The students are incredibly grateful to all of our guest presenters for sharing their time and talents.

If you would be interested in being a Career Day presenter next year, please contact Jeannie Demko, Director of Alumni Relations at jdemko@myimmaculatehs.org.

MUSTANGS “RACE TO RECONNECT” IN OUR FIRST EVER VIRTUAL 5K

Alumni from 30 classes spanning every decade of Immaculate history took part in the Immaculate Alumni Dash!  From April 10-18, Mustangs from all over the world “raced to reconnect” with fellow alumni by walking or running 3.1 miles from anywhere, logging their finish times and sharing amazing pictures of their race adventures!

Alumni donned their Mustang pride by wearing extremely cool race T-shirts designed by one of our creative and talented students, Cole Ross ‘23 in his Digital Design class.  Proceeds from the T-shirt sales benefited the Immaculate High School Adopt-a-Mustang fund.  Thank you to everyone who purchased a T-shirt to help a Mustang family in need.

Congratulations to our top male and female finishers who will both receive a prize basket of Mustangwear apparel and merch!  Eric Migiano ‘02 was the top male finisher with a time of 19:10, and Bernadette (Libonate) Orscher ‘98 was the top female finisher with a time of 24:54!

Congratulations are also in order for the Class of 1980 who won the contest for the class with the most participation! Each runner/walker from the class of 1980 who participated in our alumni dash will receive an IHS water bottle and MustangStrong facemask. Way to go ‘80!!

Thank you and congrats to all our amazing alumni who participated in this inaugural event!  It was so much fun, we look forward to the 2nd Annual Alumni Dash next year!
