Mustang Monthly

Our school year began with an opening liturgy, freshman class retreat and September 11 Remembrance Service. Students are engaged in community service commitments and our Campus Ministry program has been planning its Fall projects, including Rake n’ Bake and volunteering at the St. John Paul II Center. We are very proud of our students being present and giving back in so many ways to our local community, Catholic charities and parishes. We launched this year's School Awareness program with a presentation by Liz Jorgensen titled "Your Teenage Brain," the first of a series of presentations on drug abuse prevention, teen stress and social media.

We are on our way to hosting many school fundraising events, most recently our Golf Outing, which was a tremendous success thanks to the support of alumni, parents, friends and the business community. It is the support of many that makes our school a vibrant, mission-driven school. There are so many ways that you can enjoy being with others and supporting our students and our programs. Information about our upcoming Ocktoberfest and our Giving Day are included in this Mustang Monthly edition.

In order to maintain year-to-year academic excellence and to fortify student performance, work ethic and preparation for their future, our academic programs are continuously reviewed. Our new challenging academic programs include an expanded AP course selection and additional course electives so that students have an opportunity to explore their career interests.  Our technology certification course enables students to become an A+ entry-level PC computer service technician and students enrolled in our healthcare course are trained to become State-certified nursing assistants. Our Strategic Facilities Plan continues to be implemented thanks to the leadership of our School Advisory Board. We are most appreciative to our contracted Facilities Manager, Bart Vos Winkel ‘75, as well as our many Annual Fund and special project supporters for our ability to install a new stone front entrance, the enhancement of our outdoor patio, the installation of a new Biology Lab and Hospital Lab, as well as many classroom and technology upgrades.  The Monsignor John B. Hossan Chapel is still being updated thanks to the ongoing commitment of so many alumni. A new carpet, additional new window installations and pews are expected to be installed this coming school year.

We invite prospective students and their families to join us at Open House on Sunday, September 29 at 11am and encourage prospective students to spend a day at Immaculate by registering to be a Mustang for a Day.  Please visit the Admissions News section of this Mustang Monthly edition for additional information.

We are looking forward to an extraordinary school year. We invite you to join us at any of the planned events listed on our school calendar and to visit our school website at www.immaculatehs.org to stay updated about the exciting happenings at Immaculate High School. Go Mustangs!

We are a blessed community,
