Mustang Monthly

As we finish our third week of classes, I am encouraged by the response of our students, parents and faculty to protecting the safety of one another. Students, faculty, and staff remain focused on keeping one another safe and healthy by adhering to health communication protocols and social distancing guidelines. Our ability to provide an exemplary educational experience for our students has not been hindered.

The dedication of our faculty and staff has been extraordinary. Utilizing new teaching methods that include innovative uses of technology to teach students in the classroom while other students are participating virtually has its challenges. We are all most thankful for the collegiality and partnership our teaching staff has demonstrated in order to maintain our priority of  excellence in  educating our students.  Our students are showing their dedication  to each other by caring for each other through kindness, politeness, common courtesy and adhering to the rules and regulations of our Reopening Plan.

Our mission calls for students to be involved in community service and practicing their faith.  In addition to a prayer service in honor of September 11 victims and first responders, Deacon Jeff Font hosted a back to school prayer service and school Mass celebrated by Rev. Michael Dunn '82, Pastor  of St. Gregory the Great Church. We are very proud of our students who continue to participate in serving others by supporting Dorothy Day, virtual tutoring for elementary students, reading virtually to the elderly and volunteering at Danbury Regional Hospice. In addition, we seek to provide support for all our students.  Our counseling program has provided Advisory sessions for all grade levels and our Wellness Assembly program series began with a student presentation and a parent presentation by Richard W. Madwid, MD,LPC on “Maintaining Positive Perspectives during a Global Pandemic” which addressed personal strategies and coping mechanisms for maintaining a positive perspective for navigating life and school during this time.

Many sincere thanks to our Golden Mustangs for joining us at our virtual Mass and gathering, to the many alumni, parents and friends of Immaculate for sponsoring and participating in our Annual Golf Outing at Ridgewood Country Club and for those of you who continue to partner with us and support all that we do at Immaculate High School. Without you, especially during these past unprecedented seven months, we could not move forward and provide our students faith-filled personal, academic and leadership opportunities so that they, too, can become compassionate citizens.

Sincerely,

Mary Maloney Signature
