Mustang Monthly

The past few weeks have been one of celebrating the Easter season. In addition to our weekly Masses and daily Adoration services, students continue to give of themselves to their parishes and our Danbury community.

Our spring season student-athletes are grabbing some winning games. The troupe of student actors and actresses in our spring play, Newsies, went on the road to our local partner elementary schools and shared a melody of songs and scenes from the play. I hope that you can see their amazing talents at the Edmonton Town Hall, Newtown this evening or tomorrow!  And I am pleased to announce that our CyberPatriots team has made it once again to the gold tier in the Connecticut Regional National Youth Cyber Defense Competition and, in their first year of competition, the eSports team won the semifinals game and is competing in states today at Quinnipiac University.

Our Mustangs on the Road team was in Bluffton, SC this past week and will be in Westport, CT on May 4! It has been a wonderful experience celebrating our 60 years of Catholic high school excellence with our alumni. We will be hosting a weekend of 60th Anniversary alumni events June 2-4 and inviting everyone to a year-end celebration at the school on May 11. For additional information, contact Jeannie Demko, jdemko@myimmaculatehs.org or Erin Calamari, ecalamari@myimmaculatehs.org.

As we plan our end of year events, we are also preparing for our 2023-24 school year. Current and new students had an opportunity to meet with teachers and counselors to discuss their academic path and register for courses. We also hosted a Spring Preview Night where 60 families were able to tour the school and listen to athletic, fine arts, academic, administrative, admissions and counselor presentations to prepare for enrolling their students at Immaculate.

Our Board of Directors continues to establish goals that align with the school’s mission and vision of our Strategic Plan. The capital campaign has achieved $1.2M in commitments which will assist with major projects including our athletic fields, capital building needs and establishing a scholarship endowment in honor of Robert E. Gerwien, Sr. To learn more about how you can join in our efforts, please visit www.immaculatehs.org/support-ihs/campaign.

We are a blessed community,
