The
Candace Lee Williams 5K Run to Remember is in honor of Candace and all those who lost their lives in connection with September 11, 2001. All proceeds will be split equally and donated to the
Candace Lee Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund at Immaculate High School and to
Tuesday's Children - First Responder Alliance Program. To quote from the
Run to Remember's web site,
"Friends of Candace" is currently a group of committed friends working together to put on a race in honor of Candace and the many others who lost their lives on 9-11-01. However, it is our hope that this is just a first step in an exciting journey to creating something bigger. We are looking into becoming an official nonprofit organization that will host this race annually and perhaps expand into a sustainable organization that not only seeks to honor the victims of 9/11/01 but also seeks to empower individuals and families who have been affected by loss and trauma in their lives. How this will all look 9 years from now when we are organizing the 20 year anniversary 5K race, we couldn't tell you exactly. However, we are confident that with Candace's guiding hand, it will grow into something that she will be proud of." We encourage you to
