IMMACULATE HIGH SCHOOL
Immaculate High School is a college preparatory school, established in the Roman Catholic tradition within the Diocese of Bridgeport, Connecticut. IHS is nestled in the rolling hills of Western Connecticut and serves 26 towns in the greater Danbury area. Immaculate provides a challenging academic education in a wholesome and disciplined environment. The school values character formation, moral development and spiritual direction and welcomes students from all backgrounds and religious traditions.
Immaculate High School's mission is to foster the development of the whole student and the whole student body. Immaculate nurtures spiritual, moral, intellectual, physical, and social growth through an academically rigorous curriculum in the humanities, the sciences, mathematics and the fine arts, as well as, a competitive athletic program and a comprehensive program of extracurricular activities.
Immaculate High School is nearly 50 years old; and historically enrolls 400 to 500 young men and women from 9th through 12th grades. Current enrollment is 382 students, of which 30% are from the city of Danbury, 61% from the Connecticut towns surrounding Danbury and 9% from near-by towns in New York State. Additional demographics that help define the student body identify 17% as non-Catholic and 83% Catholic. Student ethnicity includes 2 ½ % Hispanic; 1 ½% each Asian, Black and Multi-Racial; and 1% American Indian/Pacific Islander.
Since the turn of the century, 98% of the Immaculate graduates have gone on the further their education and 93% of these have achieved either their first or second college of choice. Sixty-three percent of those graduating achieve some form of college scholarship or grant, the total of which exceeds $3 million dollars per year.
