The Mustang Speaker Series is a quarterly event where IHS alumni share their expertise with the Immaculate and Greater Danbury community. The event is free and sponsored by the IHS Alumni Association.

Please join us on Monday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. for our fourth presentation in the series brought to you by alumnus Joe Bouffard '92. He will present "How to Build Your Athletic Recruiting Plan." This presentation is open to all area middle and high school student-athletes and families, as Mr. Bouffard shows guests "how to take the focus off chasing a full athletic scholarship and put it on schools that offer free funding towards a degree." While Mr. Bouffard specializes in football, this presentation is beneficial to student-athletes in any sport.

Mr. Bouffard is currently the Northeast Director of Player Development for All American Games. Throughout his 20 years' experience coaching at the college and high school levels, combined with traveling the nation evaluating talent, Mr. Bouffard has become very familiar with the ins and outs of the recruiting process. At the presentation, "Coach Bouf" will discuss the various factors that a student-athlete's family needs to understand to not only play a sport at the collegiate level, but get their degree paid for by the school. Click the REGISTER NOW button to reserve your spot. Walk-ins are also welcome, but registration is encouraged.

Immaculate's fiscal year closes on June 30th! If your name was not on last year's donor recognition list, please consider making a donation to the I Am Immaculate Fund. Your support is needed to help us reach our goal. To view last year's giving, please click the Alumni Donor Recognition box. As you can see from this and other newsletters, we are working hard to serve our alumni and are grateful for your support! We are confident that we will see an increase in alumni donor participation this year, allowing Mustangs of today and tomorrow to continue to benefit from an Immaculate education. YOU are making a difference! Please click DONATE NOW to show your support. Thank you!!

Many alumni and other members of the IHS family have served their country in the armed forces. We are truly proud of each of them for their selfless dedication, bravery, and sacrifice to our nation. We would like to know who our alumni veterans are, so that we can honor them on our website, in upcoming publications and on Veteran's Day. If you, or an alum you know, is now or has been in the military, we would like to hear from you. Please take a moment to fill out an online form by clicking the VETERAN INFO button, telling us all about your service to our country. Stay tuned for details about our school-wide event in November which honors veterans and is open to all alumni to attend, especially our veterans. It is our hope that by Veteran's Day 2017, we have an accurate listing of all those alumni who have served our country. Thank you to all veterans past and present, living and deceased. We at Immaculate High School salute you!

"When I think about what it means to be a Mustang, the elements of determination and perseverance have stuck with me for my entire life. They were ingrained while I was a Mustang."

John Lopes '80

West Point, Law School, CEO.  These are just a few of the post-Immaculate destinations and accomplishments of John Lopes. John joined us from Indiana last year to present Bob Slavinsky, Coach of the '86 State Championship football team at our Hall of Fame Ceremony.

John's success was perhaps preordained by his notable achievements at Immaculate High School. While a student-athlete here, John was four-year year letterman in football, a Connecticut 4x4 Silver Medalist in Indoor Track, acted in the school's production of Guys & Dolls and volunteered for Convenant House in NYC. These successes and experiences led him to the next level, as John went on to become the Captain of the Army Football Team that beat Navy in 1984 to win the Commander and Chief's Trophy then going on to defeat Michigan State in the 1984 Cherry Bowl, and also being the CMO of three Indy 500 wins while at Andretti Autosport.

SAT., APRIL 22 ~ 10:30 a.m.

Tarrywile Park (across from IHS)

Tomorrow, the Immaculate Chapter of She's the First is running their second annual 5K Walk/Run with all proceeds going to She's the First, an organization that provides scholarships to girls in low-income developing countries to help transform their lives through education . Only one in every five girls in the developing world finishes primary school and only one in three attends secondary school.

The Walk/Run is in memory of Rebecca Draper Townsend, Immaculate graduate from the Class of 2015, who passed away in a tragic accident in July of 2015. Rebecca was the founder of Immaculate's She's The First Chapter, one of the first high school chapters in the country. Rebecca loved theater, fashion and travel but most of all she loved helping others and that is what this walk/run is all about.

The race starts at 10:30 am on April 22nd. Registration fee for walk-ins is $30 per person. Last year the event raised $5,000 which enabled us to sponsor six students: Marisol (Peru), Nilda (Peru), Rehema (Uganda), Ruth (Peru), Tigist (Ethiopia) and Sowndariya (India). We hope that many of our alumni can join us for this event!
