A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ALUMNI RELATIONS
COME BACK ~ RECONNECT ~ GIVE BACK…Our alumni continue to live the motto of the IHS Alumni Association. We saw alumni come back over the last month for events such as the Alumni Hockey Game, the Alumni Basketball Game and the Alumni College Panel. We also had our first monthly Alumni Association meeting of the year, which was filled with enthusiasm for the many events and initiatives in the year ahead. The ‘70’s decade led the way in our Alumni Giving Challenge, which resulted in two classes tying for the lead in Immaculate Fund participation. Congratulations to the Classes of ’72 and ’78!!! They will all be invited to our Leadership Recognition Reception next fall. Thank you to all alumni who have donated to the fund. Our fiscal year closes on June 30, so there is still time to help IHS reach its annual goal.
We are grateful for your ongoing support and prayers as we look forward to the year ahead. We have many exciting events, which continue the 50th Anniversary celebratory year. Please join us at the Athletic Hall of Fame event on March 5, and/or the Golden Gala on April 2. We will conclude our year-long celebration with the 50th reunion of the Class of ’66 on June 4th...our first Golden Mustangs! As the number of classes holding reunions each year continues to grow, we hope that if you are from any of the classes in the 1’s or 6’s, that you will reach out regarding a reunion for your class in the coming year.
Lastly, with a sophomore at Immaculate and an incoming freshman, I can tell you firsthand how great Immaculate is doing today…academically, spiritually, on the fields and stage, and in giving back to our community. My 8th grader joined countless other accepted students to the Class of 2020 at a reception at Immaculate this week. The number of legacy families looks to be growing, as I saw so many alumni in the crowd with their incoming freshman! If you are interested in learning more about Immaculate’s admissions process, please contact Tom Burns, Director of Admissions at (203) 744-1510 x148.
Thank you for all you do for IHS!

With a five-year, $25 million campaign coming to an end at Ability Beyond Disability, David will be opening a government relations and consulting firm. The focus will be state, local and federal government relations (lobbying) and consulting/business development, representing businesses, non-profits, and associations who need help in navigating the various levels of government.
After graduating from Immaculate in 1986, David went on to graduate from Western CT State University with a B.S. in Justice and Law Administration. In 2003, the March of Dimes honored him for his longtime dedication to improving the health of newborns, and was recognized by the Connecticut AARP in 2006. The American Red Cross of Western Connecticut honored Senator Cappiello in 2001 for his outstanding supportive efforts towards Disaster Relief Services post 9/11. He lives in Newtown with his wife Christine and their two sons, Jack (10) and Jude (8), both of whom attend St. Rose of Lima School.
In regards to his experience at Immaculate, David shared, “I credit much of my success in life to the educational, moral and spiritual foundation that I received during my four years at Immaculate.” He added, “I am also fortunate to say that the closest friends I made in high school are still my closest and most-trusted friends today.”
David shows his gratitude to his alma mater by sharing his time, talents and treasures with Immaculate. Whether it be serving on a committee, attending the Gala or annual golf outing, or sponsoring scholarships to help enable students to experience the same gift of an Immaculate education that he received. For all of the above, we are grateful to David and wish him much success in his new venture. Mustang Pride!

Alumni Giving Challenge Results
The gauntlet was thrown and the '70's met the challenge! We have co-champions, with the Classes of '72 and '78 both achieving a 5% Immaculate Fund donor participation rate for the first half of our fiscal year. This spirit-filled class giving challenge pitted the classes of 1966 through 2015 against each other to see which could earn the highest participation rate. Please click here to see the final results. The winning classes will be invited to our annual Leadership Recognition Society Reception in the fall. The reception recognizes and celebrates the leaders of our annual fundraising success.
There is still time to help your alma mater meet our annual Immaculate Fund goal. Click here to make your donation today. Thank you for your support!
